Predators, Prey, and the Pulse of Life

Image

Between late January and March, the southern Serengeti transforms into one of nature’s greatest nurseries. Over 400,000 wildebeest calves are born within a few short weeks on the fertile Ndutu plains, drawing predators in dramatic numbers. It’s raw, intimate, and unforgettable: Lionesses stalking in the tall grass, Cheetahs sprinting across open plains, Hyenas testing the newborns’ first steps. Beyond the spectacle, the season brings lush landscapes, migratory birds in brilliant plumage, and quieter safari days compared to peak months. Days are warm, skies often dramatic with short afternoon showers, and the plains echo with the sound of new life.

We suggest combining Ndutu and Southern Serengeti with the Ngorongoro Crater for its concentrated wildlife, and perhaps the Western Serengeti or Lake Manyara for variety.
