From March to October, Kenya and Tanzania offer one of Africa’s finest safari windows, when wildlife gathers, landscapes evolve, and each month brings a different rhythm. March to May can be green, dramatic, and quieter, with rich light, fewer vehicles, newborn animals, and excellent predator action. By June, the bush begins to thin and the great herds start moving north through the Serengeti. July to October is peak migration season, when wildebeest cross crocodile-filled rivers between the Serengeti and Maasai Mara, creating some of the most iconic wildlife scenes on earth. This is also prime time for big cats, elephants, and clear game viewing across both countries.
Beyond the migration, the season offers superb variety, from the Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire’s elephant country to Amboseli’s Kilimanjaro backdrop and the private conservancies of the Mara. We often suggest combining Kenya and Tanzania for a deeper, more complete East Africa journey.
