The search for the Fire Fox

Image

Hidden in the bamboo and rhododendron forests of the Eastern Himalayas, the red panda is one of Asia’s most elusive mammals. This small-group expedition takes us into the forests along the Singalila Ridge, spending our days on foot with experienced local trackers searching for red pandas in the wild.

Trip Highlights

Here are some of the key highlights of this trip

Explore a beautiful landscape of bamboo, oak, rhododendron and moss-covered forest, the habitat red pandas depend on.

Keep an eye out for some exceptional Himalayan birdlife, including blood pheasants, satyr tragopans, Himalayan griffons and other high-altitude species.

Experience the quieter side of the Himalayas, walking through remote villages and forests rather than exploring from a vehicle.

Travel as a small group, allowing us to remain quiet in the forest and maximise our flexibility when a red panda is located.

Spend time not simply looking for the animal, but understanding its habitat, behaviour and the conservation challenges it faces.
